Sugar Shack

With the support of Mr. Kazuo Yamabe of Tokyo (architect) and Mr. Hideo Kawakami of Kurashiki (president of an architect firm), we were able to build a cute building that is called "Sugar Shack"- a waiting place for a ferry boat.

It was a project of Onomichitosen and we were provided with generous support from the Tourist Committee of Onomichi City.

I was delighted to be able to give tourists of Onomichi City another place to visit and a new place to meet people. My hope is that my hometown, I truly love, will be visited by many people.

Onomichi City is such a warm, loving place and I hope people who visit will be able to feel this "coziness" and be welcomed by the locals. I also hope Onomichi will remain just the way I remember it as a child - the color of the ocean will stay as pure green and mountain's color will stay as beautiful as sapphires.

I truly hope the locals will continue to welcome visitors as they have for many years.
